Emil Hagelin (1976) is a Stockholm borne photographer who followed the six members of WUFC during several years. Emil wanted to show what a writer’s life looked like as well as showing how their work appears for the average citizen on the walls and on the subway trains they take to work every day. Emil documented backjumps, innercity bombing, and WUFC working the tunnels of the Stockholm subway system. His portraits is a rare and intense document of what graffiti is all about.
These chosen pictures are from the book ”Writers United the story about WUFC- a Swedish Graffiti Crew” first published in 2005 at Dokument förlag. Both the book and Emils photos have received very well deserved acclaim.
Some insightful back cover quotes:
”A unique snapshot of what graffiti is all about … Rich in information and almost
sweating with adrenalin.”
– The Guardian
”Writers United showcases one of Europes must prolific crews doing what they do
best. This is by far the best book out on a crew yet.”
– Alan Ket, graffiti writer and author, Graffiti Planet
